Functional health is based on the principle of using food as the primary form of support. By combining the right nutrition with appropriate lifestyle and behavioral changes, you can proactively manage your health and wellbeing.

We take pride in the fact that our team has assisted numerous individuals in living healthier lives by alleviating the difficulties of living with chronic diseases. Our functional health program is designed to identify the root cause of your disease or chronic condition by analyzing lifestyle factors, genetics, and environmental influences.

The care model of functional health revolves around putting the patient at the center of their care. Instead of just treating the symptoms, functional health aims to answer the fundamental question of why you're experiencing an illness. This approach allows for personalized and effective care that's tailored to your specific needs.

Functional health practitioners take the time to listen to your concerns and gather your health history. This information is used to identify the root causes of your illness, including factors such as poor nutrition, stress, toxins, allergens, genetics, and your microbiome (the bacteria living in and on your body).

Once the triggers are identified, a personalized healthy living plan is created just for you. Your plan will address various aspects of your life, including physical needs such as nutrition, exercise, and sleep, as well as mental and emotional stressors related to your social, work, and community life.

What makes our approach different?
"Normal" Isn't Optimal

Under allopathic approaches, a practitioner might take one blood test, note that a given biomarker isn’t low or high enough to indicate the presence of disease and reassure the patient that everything looks normal — even if that patient is still experiencing dysfunction like fatigue, pain or inflammation.  However, this kind of black-and-white thinking — where the client is either healthy or sick with a clinical condition — leaves many dysfunctional, unhealthy clients to suffer.

That’s because the broad reference ranges used by the laboratories that analyze blood samples are based on averages, not on actual health. These ranges are calculated based on the average values found within roughly 95% of a sample population. When faced with these broad ranges, an allopathic practitioner might conclude that a biomarker falls within normal limits.

To make even greater use of functional blood chemistry’s optimal ranges, practitioners can track their client's blood test results over time and observe as biomarkers shift towards or away from the optimal range.  When a biomarker strays above or below that range, practitioners can use this as a sign that an intervention is needed, whether that’s the recommendation of supplements, food and lifestyle changes, or any other type of intervention.

Naturopathic Methods of Care

Our approach doesn't "treat" medical diagnoses or replace medical interventions that our clients present with; rather, we aim to support our clients, centering our goals around restoring vitality by removing obstacles to health and establishing the foundations for optimal healing.  We also work together, integrating one or more complementary practices into your healthcare regimen to stimulate your body's self-healing mechanisms, supporting and restoring weakened systems, correcting structural stability, and recommending natural substances that restore and regenerate the body.

Let's find out if we're a great fit for each other, fill out the Patient Readiness Questionnaire and we'll be happy to see how we can best serve you.
